The Organization that we are a part of is the American Taekwondo Association (ATA):
The ATA is a premier North American organization dedicated to the martial arts discipline of Taekwondo, and is the founding organization of other international affiliates that include the
World Traditional Taekwondo Union (WTTU) and the Songahm Taekwondo Federation (STF).  Counting both the U.S. and worldwide, our organizations have over 2,500 licensed schools and clubs.

Each Instructor is a graduate of an instructor program that represents more than thirty years of research and development.

The ATA and its affiliated organizations help build a strong foundation of Songahm Taekwondo in each of its members, a foundation from which advancement in both the martial art (mind and body) and in self defense can be built and added on to in perpetuity.

Since the first student walked into an ATA classroom in 1969, the ATA has been changing lives through Songahm Taekwondo.  Now, the ATA is close to reaching the unthinkable, "Changing One Million Lives!"

The Style that we teach is Songahm Taekwondo:

Like any martial art properly taught and properly practiced, Taekwondo is a non-aggressive and ethical system of self-defense with focus on personal development of mind and body.

Taekwondo developed from humble beginnings over 1,000 years ago and has since spread internationally to become one of the world's most successful and popular martial arts.

The word Taekwondo itself is made up of three Chinese/Korean words:  Tae, meaning to kick or jump; Kwon, meaning fist or hand; Do, which means "the way."  Loosely (if not literally), it can be thought of as "The Way of the Hand and Foot."

While famous for its wide range of kicks, Taekwondo also emphasizes breaking power, such as splitting wood and bricks using only the bare hands and feet.

The Songahm curriculum facilitates a smooth progression from one rank to the next, so that students who begin Taekwondo feeling they will never be able to do a simple block (for example) suddenly find themselves a few years later doing 360-degree jumping kicks with ease.

Our School is the Maricopa Black Belt Academy:

A family-owned martial arts studio committed to helping each student fulfill his or her own potential at his or her own pace.

In September 2005 we started working with Maricopa students through the Santa Rosa and Maricopa Elementary "After School" programs, educating the children in self defense and Taekwondo forms.

In January 2006 we partnered with the City of Maricopa Parks and Recreation Department to offer karate classes through the City's Activator programs. To date we have been partnered with the City for more then eight consecutive seasons.

In November 2006 we opened our own facility in Maricopa, AZ located at 44400 W. Honeycutt Ave.

In March 2007 we started a "No Easy Targets" campaign that focused on educating children on awareness and responsiveness to child abduction and bullying related situations. In September every year, we offer the opportunity for children to sign up for this free class.

We have also been a large part of the community participating in different events such as,  The Salsa Festival, Founders Day, The Fishing Derby, The Women in Business Fashion Show,  Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Events, The Against Abuse Gala and the Fourth of July City event.

We currently have several students that travel around the United States competing in Tournaments for State and World Championships.
